The Silent Hour
Editor for Silent Quarter by artist Tim Lane, published by Antlers Gallery, 2016
The Silent Quarter (written and illustrated by artist Tim Lane) is an illustrated prose short story, combining written vignettes and expansive artworks in order to unfold its narrative. It depicts the
emotional and philosophical journey through the mind of an old man – a mask-maker and a barber – as he comes to the end of his long life. Playing with ideas of reality and illusion, the book explores the transformative effects of masks, haircuts and thunderstorms, alongside personal experiences of loss, the endurance of love and the importance of memory.
